Christmas coke advert

Santa Claus is represented in this advert as the traditional image of Father Christmas, in a red coat with a long white beard and in a workshop full of elves. As the advert progresses we see more people coming into the story. These people are all normal people who seem to be doing normal things at first, until we see the rest of the advert, where we find out what else happens to them.

The representation persuades us to like the product because everything that happens to the people in the advert is good. They all receive great acts of kindness from their friends, or just strangers. The advert also has a very happy theme to it, the song that plays to the advert is very upbeat and the lyrics are very self-explanatory - Make someone happy. This makes us believe that we should drink coke to be happy, because Santa Claus is drinking it, and he is making everyone happy.

This advert is probably aimed towards a younger audience because it is normally only children who believe in Santa and have an image in their heads of him in a workshop full of elves. Adults would also enjoy the advert however, because one of the last scenes in the advert is the brightly coloured coke trucks passing through a snowy village. This references back to a much earlier advert from the 90s, where coca cola trucks drive through a town and make Christmas much better and brighter. This means that adults who watch this advert will be reminded of how happy the old advert made them, and will feel happy when they watch this new advert.

In the lesson we got to try out the Canon cameras on the Manfrotto tripods. The tripods needed to be bubbled before we could use them. The cameras had a number of different settings, but we kept them on the simple picture and video settings. We also used the flash on the cameras and the flip screen to capture the pictures.
We then created a blog on blogger and personalized it by changing the design. We also changed the layout by adding gadgets such as: a search browser, a link to the class and a link to the other people in the class. We did this by adding the URL of the other blogs to the front page of our blogs.
Next year I hope to record a video using the tripod on the dolly. I think that the footage captured will be very smooth and fluid.
